RUNNiNG WiTH MY THOUGHTS Forever in my heart

An EFA team colleague of mine, Pey Lu, adores to create treasuries... often on a weekly basis... and sometimes more than one a week. In fact, there is an entire blog, beyond craft works, that keeps record of these fabulous treasuries... click HERE to get to there.

Obviously this artist has a dedication and commitment to curating treasuries... lol... but these collections of Etsy products are not a haphazard grouping of listings... they are usually a sophisticated showing of images that tell a story...

As a result, in my opinion, these treasuries are highly worthwhile to view... often a mini gallery wonderland... depicting whatever this artist was in the mood to promote... be it a dreamy concept, a theme set up with her treasury teammates (i call them the treasury triplets), or whether promoting a raffle selling tickets to benefit some animal organization or event.

Its a brand new speciality store themed around the creation of unique heart shaped pendants... and it is dedicated to the memory of one of Pey Lu's animal companions...

"The first forever heart was made for my beloved dog Rachel. she was with me for 9 years, 9 days, 13 hours and 9 minutes. She is and always will be forever in my mind and my heart."

Folk Art Vision is an Etsy store dedicated to her Mixed Media Assemblage and other creative pieces she calls Words at Play... I highly recommend a visit to this store to view and purchase some wondrous & lovely modern art work...

... many of which are also heart or love themed.

january MONTHLY CHALLENGE TREASURY team EFA

I am part of Team EFA (Etsy For Animals: Artists helping Animals)...

Our team has a Monthly Challenge and EFA has a blog that is solely dedicated to the showing of our monthly challenge entries.

Entering the monthly Etsy for Animals Challenge is a fun way to participate in the EFA street team. Every month there is an opportunity for EFA members to submit one of their listings to be featured on the blog. Each month has a specific theme which the listing must reflect in some way.

The monthly challenge blog provides a lovely display of goods presented by our artists & suppliers. Its a wonderful marketing opportunity for our sellers and also the mini feature tells us how they contribute to aiding our animal friends.

January's theme was "January Jackpot" where we needed to incorporate gold or have the color gold in our products. LolaLynn, our EFA Monthly Challenge administrator, put together a treasury with some of our entries...

Brizel Handcrafts' was honored by having its entry included in the treasury... a yummy Silk Tapestry Hip Pouch called This Golden Earth...

This delicious multicolored ooak Hip Pouch, made of hand spun silk sari yarn featuring tones of greens & browns... This Golden Earth has been embellished with an earthen gold vintage button, which secures the front closure flap. Synthesized on a hand woven Guatemalan cotton sash of golden ochre tones with red brown stripes. Brizel's Hip Pouches have been designed to be worn at the front to one side... with the sash knotted in position on the other side.

In the beginning... Brizel Silk Tapestry Hearts were originally conceived by the making of one very special heart plush...

This product line was born and is dedicated to my loving father in thanks for all that he has done and continues to do for me.

Brizel Silk Tapestry Hearts are handcrafted & individually unique plushes made with silk sari yarns and/or banana silk yarns.

Inspired originally by ancient rug bags, Brizel Silk Tapestry is a technique that was developed to create woven rug-like thickness. Since I work in spiral formation, I adapted upon crochet...

... each thick silk yarn loop must be pulled tightly before the next one can be made... making the creation of a Brizel Silk Tapestry piece both a conscientious & effortful act.

A Brizel Silk Tapestry Heart typically takes between 3 to 4 hrs to complete.

The silk yarn that is used to create Brizel’s Silk Tapestry Hearts is made from reclaimed silk threads and loom warps... left overs from a silk garment factory which are reclaimed and hand spun into this gorgeous yarn by Nepalese and Himalayan craftswomen.

Some of the hearts also have some banana silk- a silk like yarn made from banana fibers - yet another lovely eco-friendly product !

Brizel Silk Tapestry Hearts are doubled sided heart shaped plushes...

...designed on each side with different complimentary colorful yarn motifs...

... they are embellished with themed buttons, often hearts or flowers...

... sometimes with romantic portraits of men or women.

One side features a ribbon with a special love message...

... some have colorful blank ribbons on which a unique custom message could be written on.

The inside of the plushes have been filled with polartec fabric and when held between the hands or against the heart... this gorgeous Silk Tapestry Heart will warm to the touch.

Brizel Silk Tapestry Hearts have a short faux leather cord nestled at its top in case it wants to be displayed vertically.

ECO ETSY GREEN treasury feature Jan 6 - 8

My gratitude and thanks to Lachiffonniere, a fellow member of the Eco Etsy Team that i belong to, for this wonderful GREEN ETSY TREASURY:

Anny selected a set of mod green glass buttons from the Brizel Supplies store to be featured in this lovely treasury.

Lachiffonniere is a delightful Etsy store which the owner simply describes as "QUILT, RAG DOLL AND OTHER AMUSEMENTS". Her items are really fun, especially if the kid inside you is still awake and especially if you are in the mood to buy lovely items for a child.

In her own words, Anny says this about herself: "I am a fashion designer who is fascinated by hand-made articles. I have a workshop at home where I create quilts, rag doll, clothes and accessories of all kinds. I particularly like to work with ecological fibers (recycled fabrics and organic fibers).

I'm a French Canadian artist who lives in a beautiful old house in a small village by the St-Lawrence River a few miles away from Quebec City, Canada.

I don't want to over-exploit our planet. Fashion, for me, is a way of expressing himself. Every person is unique and the hand-made clothes reveal our personality in a unique way!

I like to use my creativity to produce my quilt and cute friends which respect the environment. All my products are maded with recycled fabrics. These fabrics are pre-consumer recycled. They result from rests of cutting (table waste) of manufacturers and from designers. Only products in jeans are made from pair of recycled jeans. "
