Thanks to WoodNKnees for
featuring one of Brizel's Silk Tapestry Boxes

"A unique handmade round Silk Tapestry Box, made of recycled silk sari yarns, perfect for storing memory trinkets ! Father Sun is a divine soft fiber arts container featuring silk sari yarns: variegated solar yellow paired with a rich buttercup yellow.

It has a lid of its own which is embellished with a vintage pewter metal sun button. This vibrant Silk Tapestry Box measures approx: 2 3/4" in diameter x 2" high with an interior of 2" in diameter x 1 5/8" high"

I've been working on my photography set up and this is the first Silk Tapestry Box to be listed on this new backdrop and with nature trinkets & props to stir the imagination of my viewers & prospective clients.

Just for fun... as props... I included three mini bottles filled with sand- all from special places I've visited in my younger days... the smallest one contains sand from the pyramids in Egypt; the left bottle contains sand from the acropolis in Greece and the tallest bottle from the black volcanic beaches of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Many of the shells in the box also come from that wondrous island !

I'm very pleased with the outcome - what do you think ?

Here's a delightful item from our curator's shop:

"This hand painted Cypress Knee Santa is very unique with its animal print clothing. He has zebra print trim, leopard print hat, and giraffe print toy bag full of sports equipment and Christmas tree. This Santa measures about 10 inches high and 3 inches at its widest point at the base.

Bald Cypress Trees grow in the swamps in Southeastern U.S. As the trees mature, extensions of the root system grow above the water or ground line forming a very unique shape. These root formations are known as "knees." Just like snowflakes, every knee is different, no two are alike. Collectors value this trait, knowing that regardless of the number of knees in their particular collection, they will never have two exactly the same.

Harvesting these knees does not harm the tree and the tree soon forms another knee and continues to grow. The knees are boiled and the outer bark removed and after they dry out they are ready to paint. I study the knee and try to "Find the Santa" in each of them."
